Anupa is a versatile writer who contributes to a variety of platforms. She began her writing career as a mainstream journalist. In the mid 90s she branched off into arts coverage and has been associated with the arts pages of several newspapers. She was founding editor,Art India, Mumbai contributing editor of Asian Art News and World Sculpture News and, for a brief stint, the managing editor of Harmony magazine. She has been a columnist with Bombay Times, Ahmedabad Times and currently writes for DNA, Ahmedabad. She has written catalog essays for Indian contemporary artists and edited books on contemporary Indian art for other authors. In June 2007, Anupa published her first novel, The Waiting Room (Penguin). INDIA 20, a book of interviews with twenty important Indian artists was published by Mapin in October 2007.
